Netflix comes to India, plans start at Rs 500 a month

LAS VEGAS: As many had predicted, Netflix will increase its global footprint and launch in India. Today the company said it will come to India with competitive plans. This is excellent news for the industry and viewers as the company will provide lot of content to be streamed over the internet to its users.

For some who do not know about the company, Netflix is an on-demand internet media streaming facility that is very popular in the US and parts of Europe. It is available in more than 50 countries across the world, including Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany and more. Last year, the company expanded its services to Japan, Spain, Portugal and Italy. And now it will be available everywhere including India (except China).

Netflix will also focus on developing its own content and nearly double the number of original shows to 31 from 16, its chief content officer Ted Sarandos said recently.

The plans start from Rs 500 a month and go up to Rs 800. Ultra HD content is also available, but only in the premium plan. People can opt to get the Netflix streaming service to up to 4 screens. Local and international content will be available at a click of a button.

Netflix has also announced their partnership with Dreamworks to expand its global partnership.

The only issue we see with the service is the broadband speed in India. Metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc do have good internet speeds, but most parts of India still suffer with low broadband penetration. This can be a challenge for the company to hold a firm ground in India.

Two: Many CEOs have begun thinking about this crisis in three phases. They may assign different names or specific lengths to t
