Galaxy S7 Has A Serious Performance Problem

Image
Do you know what the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have in abundance? Speed. And yet do you know what is set to cause the biggest problems for both these phones? Speed…    The problem comes down to one key thing: inconsistency. In new benchmarks  published  by respected speed testing software Antutu, the company found CPU performance varied by a perfectly acceptable 5% but the difference in graphics performance between models was as great as 32%. So what causes this? In short: Samsung’s decision to use different chipsets in different Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge phones around the world. Snapdragon 820 equipped Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones have dramatically better GPU performance than Exynos 8890 versions. Image credit: Antutu Unlike the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, which only used Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chipset, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are split between the Exynos 8890 (the 7420 successor) in some regions and  Qualcomm   QCOM +1.23% ’s...

Galaxy S7 Has Two Nasty Surprises

Image
Do you know what’s great about the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge?  Almost everything . Samsung has married the style of the Galaxy S6 with the substance of the Galaxy S5. But 24 hours after launch two nasty (and potentially deal breaking) surprises have been discovered…     Nasty Surprise #1 One of the most lauded features of the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is the  return of microSD expandable storage . What’s more, the Galaxy S7 ships with Android Marshmallow which is the perfect companion to microSD. This is because Marshmallow can treat expandable storage just like internal storage. For example, if your 32GB Galaxy S7 adds a 200GB microSD card Marshmallow will report you now have 232GB of space for install apps, store photos and video – anything you want.   But here comes the nasty surp...

Samsung's Indonesia Branch Has Accidentally Leaked The Galaxy S7, Water-proof Feature Confirmed

Image
February 21 is going to be one of the most exciting days of the year for gadget geeks, because both South Korean electronics giants Samsung and LG will unveil their 2016 flagship phones, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5. But in today’s web-driven, ultra-connected culture, it’s just about impossible to keep highly anticipated projects under wraps (just ask Rihanna, whose new album was leaked by music service Tidal last month). So naturally, details of the Galaxy S7 has all been confirmed, a week before the phone’s official announcement. Notable leaker Evan Blass had already revealed unofficial images of the Galaxy S7, but Samsung’s overzealous Indonesian branch has provided what is essentially an official leak in the form of an  unlisted YouTube ad . Usually, people “unlist” their YouTube videos if they want to share the content with a select few but not broadcast to the public, so it’s safe to assume that Samsung Indonesia does not want the ad to go public yet...
