Rs. 450 crore granted for IIIT in Kurnool

The State government has accorded administrative sanction for Rs. 450 crore for setting up an IIIT in the district, with an intake of 5,000 students, Collector Ch. Vijayamohan said on Sunday.

Flagging off a 5K run organised at the police parade grounds in connection with the foundation stone laying ceremony of the capital city here, the Collector listed out the development projects planned for the district including an Urdu university at Kurnool, a 1,000 MW solar park, four-lane roads from Nandyal-Giddalur and from Kurnool-Atmakur to Amaravati.
Mr. Vijayamohan also announced his contribution for 1,000 e-bricks and Kurnool MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy for one lakh e-bricks for the capital ceremony on the occasion. ZPTC members, mandal presidents and MPTC members also said that they would donate their honorary pay amounting to Rs. 20 crore and one-month salary for the construction of the capital .

The Collector, MLC Silpa Chakrapani Reddy, former Minister K.E. Prabhakar, and SP A. Ravikrishna and others participated in the 5K run and supervised the transportation of the soil and water collected from the district for the groundbreaking ceremony in Amaravati. The Collector and MLC also gave away prizes to the winners of the 5k run and those excelled in cookery competitions organised on the occasion.
